Nerys Jones Appointed UK Ambassador to Montenegro

Nerys Jones has been appointed the United Kingdom’s new Ambassador to Montenegro, succeeding Dawn McKen, who will move to a new diplomatic posting. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed the appointment on 30 April 2026, with Ms Jones expected to take up her post in August 2026. Jones brings extensive experience in European affairs, having served as Deputy Head of Mission in Vienna, Athens, and Rome, and as Deputy Head of the Mediterranean Department at the FCDO. She has also worked in Berlin as Spokesperson & Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and in Prague as Deputy Head of Mission. The appointment follows Ms McKen’s transfer to another role within the Diplomatic Service.
