Norway and Britain Conduct Tamber Shield 26 Exercise in Bergen

The Norwegian Defence Force and the Royal Navy will conduct the annual Tamber Shield 26 exercise in the Bergen area from 27 April to 14 May. The exercise features increased activity with British and Norwegian ships and helicopters, including Royal Navy 815 Naval Air Squadron Wildcat helicopters and Puma surveillance drones. Norwegian forces will deploy Skjold‑class corvettes from the 1st Corvette Squadron and the frigate KNM Fridtjof Nansen. The drill will also see British P2000 patrol vessels. Tamber Shield 26 focuses on new operational concepts with unmanned systems, marking the first participation of a British drone squadron. The exercise follows a recent helicopter agreement between Norway and Britain, allowing British helicopters to operate from Norwegian bases and vessels. The flag‑officer Kyrre Haugen said the drill strengthens integration and readiness for Norway and its allies.
