Spain’s Minister Visits Strasbourg and Brussels to Promote Social Investment

Spain’s Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, travelled on a three‑day institutional visit to Strasbourg and Brussels from 28 to 30 April. She met Spanish ambassador Rosa Velázquez in Strasbourg to discuss the country’s migration policy and the ongoing extraordinary regularisation programme. The minister also held a high‑level meeting with EU Commission Vice‑President Roxana Minzatu and Portuguese Labour Minister Maria Palma Ramalho to strengthen the European social agenda and promote the European Social Fund Plus. In Brussels, Saiz spoke with CESE President Seamus Boland about migration as a labour market pillar and outlined reforms such as the regularisation, the Integration and Citizenship Plan and future Mobility Strategy. She delivered a plenary address at the CESE, stressing that adequate pension systems are essential for European social cohesion and that the EU must balance fiscal sustainability with social sufficiency.
