In 2024, Finnish companies operated 5,963 subsidiaries in 140 countries, generating a consolidated revenue of just under €241 billion abroad. The subsidiaries employed 599,820 people worldwide, with the majority—302,580 employees—working in EU member states. Sweden was the largest host country, contributing about €56 billion in revenue and employing roughly 79,370 staff. Revenue from EU subsidiaries accounted for more than half of the total abroad, while the rest was split between North America (18 %) and other regions. Manufacturing and finance‑insurance sectors were the largest earners in Europe, with €44 billion and €33 billion, respectively. Finnish firms invested €6.8 billion in foreign assets, 76 % of which went to Europe, including €1.7 billion to Swedish subsidiaries. The data were released by Statistics Finland on 29 April 2026.
