Women 16‑19 Have Highest Share in Service Occupations, 2025

In 2025, women aged 16‑19 were most likely to work in service occupations, with 46.8 % compared to 37.6 % of men of the same age. They also had a higher share in sales and office occupations (32.9 % vs. 21.6 %). Women 20‑24 showed a decline in service (33.1 %) and sales/office (26.3 %). Across the life cycle, women over 55 were more likely than those 25‑54 to work in sales and office roles. In other fields, men consistently outnumbered women: in production, transportation and material‑moving occupations about one‑fifth of men 16‑19 were employed there versus less than one‑tenth of women. Men also had higher shares in natural resources, construction and maintenance and in management, business and financial operations, especially in the 45‑54 age group. These figures come from the Current Population Survey.
