Swedish Study Societies Report 76,000 Choir Participants in 2025

According to Statistics Sweden, 76,200 people participated in choir activities organised by study societies in 2025, the most popular subject. In total, about 608,000 adults took part in the study societies’ folk‑education programmes across roughly 200 different subjects nationwide. Music and visual‑art subjects appear most frequently; other popular areas include animal care, association knowledge, history and religion. The statistics also show that 40% of participants are 60 years or older, with those over 90 numbering slightly more than 5,000. Women participate more often than men, a gap that widens with age. The data are part of the 2025 folk‑education report released by SCB on April 30, 2026.
