Hope4Kids, a joint initiative led by the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in the Netherlands, has begun a four‑year programme to strengthen and harmonise paediatric palliative care (PPC) across Europe. The project targets children with life‑limiting or incurable conditions, aiming to improve access to early, holistic PPC that addresses pain, symptoms and psychosocial needs from diagnosis onward. Coordinated with more than 50 partners and 70 organisations from 23 European countries—including Italy’s Istituto Superiore di Sanità—Hope4Kids will map existing PPC systems, develop evidence‑based guidelines, and test four pilot interventions at over 17 study sites. It will also deliver training for healthcare professionals, parents, caregivers and teachers, and build a European PPC network. The initiative seeks to reduce disparities in care quality and availability, ensuring timely, high‑standard services for children and families.
