Canada’s Export Value Added Grows to $677.8 Billion in 2024

Canada’s value added in exports grew steadily from 2020 to 2024, reaching $677.8 billion, Statistics Canada reported. The manufacturing sector, the largest contributor, increased from $173.1 billion in 2020 to $246.0 billion in 2024. Mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction also rose, from $67.7 billion to $149.6 billion, while utilities saw a peak in 2021 before falling to $3.7 billion in 2024. Services such as accommodation and food, professional‑scientific and technical services, and government education grew markedly, with accommodation and food services climbing from $3.3 billion to $21.3 billion. Health‑care and social assistance and non‑profit services also showed modest increases. Retail trade fell from $1.1 billion in 2020 to $0.96 billion in 2024, whereas wholesale trade rose from $26.9 billion to $34.7 billion.
