Finland’s Energy Imports Fall 6%, Exports Rise 16% in 2025

Finland’s energy imports fell by 6 % while exports rose by 16 % in 2025, Statistics Finland reported on 7 May 2026. Imports reached €10.0 billion, down from €10.7 billion a year earlier, whereas exports climbed to €5.6 billion from €4.7 billion. Norway, Sweden and the United States were the top import partners by value, while Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom were the main export destinations. The largest imported products were crude oil, condensates and other oil products, and the main exported items were condensates, motor gasoline and other oil products. Natural‑gas imports grew almost four‑fold, but liquefied natural‑gas imports fell 49 %. Natural‑gas exports dropped 47 %, while liquefied natural‑gas exports rose 3 %. Electricity imports reached 11.1 TWh, a 28 % rise, and electricity exports were 5.5 TWh, unchanged from the previous year.
