Environment Agency Opens Consultation on Drax Power Permit Variation

The Environment Agency has opened a consultation on its draft decision to grant a permit variation to Drax Power Limited in Yorkshire. The company has applied to vary its environmental permit to include carbon capture at its Selby bioenergy plant. After reviewing comments from two previous consultations, the Agency is “minded to” issue the variation but has not yet made a final decision. Draft permit and decision documents are available on the Agency’s Citizen Space page, explaining the conditions and how prior comments were considered. The consultation will run until 24 June 2026. The public can view the documents and submit comments electronically or by email to pscpublicresponse@environment-agency.gov.uk.
