Most Canadian Businesses Report Worsening Supply Chain Challenges in Q2 2026

Statistics Canada’s latest survey of Canadian businesses shows that supply chain difficulties worsened for a majority of firms during the second quarter of 2026. Overall, 85.3% of businesses reported an overall deterioration in supply chain conditions. Half of respondents (51.8%) noted higher input costs, 44.9% experienced increased delivery delays, and 12.6% cited shortages that reduced the availability of inputs or finished goods. While 46.5% of firms said conditions remained about the same and 0.7% reported improvement, the pattern varied by sector. Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting saw the largest decline, with 93.2% reporting worsening conditions; 25.3% reported higher prices, 39.0% longer delays, and 13.9% shortages. In construction, 58.7% reported worsening conditions, and manufacturing reported 55.5% worsening, with 90.8% noting higher costs.
