According to Statistics Norway, 72 % of the Norwegian population had at least one general practitioner (GP) consultation in 2025, while 16 % accessed emergency primary health care. Across age groups, the share of GP users ranged from 64 % among children 0-5 years to 86 % among those 80-89 years, with average GP consultations rising from 1.8 for the youngest to 4.8 for the oldest. Emergency care usage was highest among the 90-plus group at 40 %, compared with 22 % among 80-89 years. The average number of GP consultations per person was 3.0, versus 0.22 for emergency services.
