BLS Highlights 10 Creative Occupations with Rapid Job Growth

Creative careers are projected to see significant job growth between 2024 and 2034, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report lists ten occupations where creativity and innovation are rated “very important” or “extremely important.” Entertainment and recreation managers (except gambling) are expected to grow fastest, with a 7.7 percent increase, followed by chefs and head cooks at 7.1 percent. Other high‑growth roles include recreation workers, chief executives, producers and directors, event planners, art directors, graphic designers, architects, and audio‑video technicians. Four of these jobs—chief executives, architects, art directors, and graphic designers—have average wages above $100,000, with chief executives earning $269,630 on average. Most positions require a bachelor’s degree; chefs, recreation workers, and audio‑video technicians need only a high‑school diploma, a postsecondary non‑degree, or related experience. Half of the roles also need prior work experience, and three call for internships.
