ECB Names New Directors General for Monetary Policy, International Relations, and Legal Services

On 29 May 2026 the European Central Bank (ECB) announced the appointment of three Directors General. Roland Straub will become Director General Monetary Policy, effective 1 July 2026, succeeding Massimo Rostagno. Christophe Kamps will take the role of Director General International and European Relations, also starting 1 July 2026, after Isabel Vansteenkiste. Petra Senkovic will be appointed Director General Legal Services on 1 November 2026, replacing Chiara Zilioli. Straub, a former Deputy Director General Market Operations, has worked at the ECB since 2006 and holds a PhD from the European University Institute. Kamps, currently Acting Director General Monetary Policy, joined the ECB in 2005 and has a PhD from the University of Kiel. Senkovic, previously Director General Secretariat, holds a master’s in European law and a PhD from Sorbonne University. The appointments were welcomed by ECB President Christine Lagarde, who praised their experience.
