ONS Releases New UK Real‑Time Economic and Social Indicators

On 29 May 2026 the Office for National Statistics released a new set of real‑time economic activity and social change indicators for the UK. The release includes weekly shipping data, automotive fuel spending, and daily electricity and gas system prices. It also provides VAT flash estimates, weekly potential redundancy figures, daily flight movements, and energy performance building certificates data. Additional weekly and monthly series cover Revolut debit card spending and retail footfall. All series are in development and sourced from agencies such as exactEarth, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Elexon, HMRC, the Insolvency Service, EUROCONTROL, the Ministry of Housing, Revolut, and BT Active Intelligence. The publication is part of the ONS real‑time indicator dashboard and will be updated regularly.
