MHRA arrests two in largest seizure of unlicensed weight loss medicines

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) arrested two men on 28 May 2026 after raiding a country estate near Northampton. The operation, supported by Northamptonshire Police, seized about 12,000 doses of unlicensed weight loss medicines, including retatrutide and tirzepatide, and other peptide products. Officers also recovered packaging materials and substances used in illicit manufacturing. Both suspects, aged 29, were taken into custody on suspicion of offences under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012. The MHRA said the raid dismantled a large‑scale facility that produced, assembled and distributed these medicines. The agency stated it will continue to use its full powers to protect the public and disrupt illegal trade. The MHRA’s Criminal Enforcement Unit led the operation.
