Finnish high‑school statistics for 2025 show rise in graduates

Finnish Statistics Centre reported that in 2025 there were 114,700 students in upper‑secondary education and 31,800 graduates of the national upper‑secondary exam, 1,000 more than in 2024. New students totaled 38,300. The cohort was 58 % female and 57 % of graduates were women. Six percent of students studied in Swedish. A total of 642 students earned international diplomas; 2,300 students enrolled in international‑exam programmes. In 2025, 83 % of exams were taken in spring and 17 % in autumn; the share of autumn exams has increased by four percentage points since 2020. In 2025 the International Baccalaureate produced 583 IB diplomas, the Helsinki European School issued 28 EB diplomas and the Helsinki German School issued 31 DIA diplomas.
