Statistics Canada Releases Human Resources Module for Environmental Tech Sector

Statistics Canada has released a Human Resources Module (HRM) for the environmental and clean technology products sector. The HRM supplements the sector’s Economic Account by offering more detailed workforce data, such as gender, age, education, immigration status, Indigenous identity, wages and occupation types. The module uses the Canadian Productivity Accounts definition of a job and includes only employee jobs, excluding self‑employed positions. Data are based on the 2019 industry categories and reflect the paid‑worker job held by individuals, allowing for multiple jobs per person. The HRM builds on the existing Employment and Compensation of Employees tool, providing national and provincial employment estimates and a deeper view of the sector’s human resource profile.
