ECHA Launches New Chesar Platform for Chemical Risk Assessment

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released the first version of its new Chesar Platform, a cloud‑based tool for carrying out and reporting chemical risk assessments under REACH and Biocidal Products regulations. The platform combines the existing Chesar and EUSES tools into a single environment and will gradually replace the current Chesar tool, EUSES 2.2.0, and ECHA’s Excel‑based calculation tools for biocides. It offers a structured workflow, embedded exposure‑estimation tools, harmonised reporting, and automatic updates of calculations and reports. For REACH users it supports safety assessments and safety data sheet exposure scenarios; for biocides users it provides environmental exposure and risk assessments and sections of the Risk Assessment Report. The previous Chesar 3 tool will be supported for about a year to allow migration. A webinar on 2 June 2026 and further guidance are available on the platform’s website.
