U.S. Coast Guard Conducts Maritime Exercise with Philippine Forces

From May 26-30, 2026, the U.S. Coast Guard partnered with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for a maritime cooperative activity in the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone. The exercise, the sixth of 2026, aimed to strengthen interoperability between the two navies and improve maritime law‑enforcement skills. For the first time in the year, the Coast Guard cutter Midgett participated, representing the U.S. side. Activities included visit, board, search and seizure drills, maritime interdiction operations, search and rescue, and law‑enforcement training. U.S. Coast Guard Captain Brian Whisler said the exercise helped hone capabilities and share best practices. The event featured Philippine assets such as the BRP Antonio Luna, BRP Melchora Aquino, an AW109 helicopter, FA‑50 jets, and others.
