Statistics Norway reported that the number of resident immigrants with a refugee background in Norway reached 340,524 as of 1 January 2026, up 2.1 percent from the previous year. Resettlement refugees totaled 52,166 (15.3 percent) and other refugees were 90,824 (26.7 percent). An unspecified category accounted for 7,711 people (2.3 percent). Among those with a refugee background, 72,854 had a family connection, including 20,894 who arrived through family enlargement and 51,913 via family reunification. The proportion of people with refugee backgrounds among all immigrants was 34.5 percent, and 6.1 percent of the overall population.
