President Sánchez Chairs Third Interministerial Meeting on 2030 World Cup

President Pedro Sánchez chaired the third meeting of the Interministerial Committee preparing for the 2030 World Cup, a tournament jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Fifteen ministries, along with various institutions and organisations, are involved in the preparations, and about 150 people already work in eight dedicated working groups. In his address to more than 60 participants, Sánchez noted that after September, when FIFA returns to Spain, there will be less than four years to organise the event, described as one of the most important in the country’s recent history. He highlighted Spain’s responsibility to lead the process, citing the country’s first‑class infrastructure, modern transport network and experience in hosting major international events. The centenary of the tournament is seen as a symbol of cooperation amid global division.
