The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has secured convictions following a long‑running investigation into the illegal supply of medical devices used in UK hospitals. Kenneth George Harrison (69) of Bolton and Medicina Limited were found guilty of fraud for supplying devices with false CE markings and misleading healthcare providers about their safety and regulatory approval. The investigation, which began in 2013, identified that enteral feeding pumps, gastrostomy “button” devices and blunt fill needles were placed on the market without required assessments, clinical evaluation or safety testing. The MHRA issued safety alerts, oversaw recalls and removed the affected pumps from the UK and EU markets. CPS prosecutors said the fraudsters profited substantially and will face confiscation proceedings. Sentencing for Harrison is set for 23 September 2026; Medicina Ltd’s sentencing date is yet to be fixed.
