Riksbank urges Swedish financial sector to follow National Cyber Security Center’s newly published advice on cyber‑security and AI, aiming to strengthen resilience against cyber attacks. The Center’s guidance, released in recent days, is divided into two parts: one for decision makers and senior management, and a second set of detailed technical recommendations. The central bank and the Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) have called on all financial actors to adopt these measures. In its latest financial stability report, published in May, Riksbank noted that the rapid development of advanced AI models has increased the risk of cyber attacks, as AI can enable attackers to act faster and more efficiently. However, AI can also help strengthen defensive capabilities. “Managing the opportunities and threats that AI presents is both a technical and a management challenge,” said Olof Sandstedt, head of financial stability at Riksbank.
