Security Industry Authority conducted nationwide inspections on 21 June 2026, uncovering unlicensed operatives and licence breaches in the night‑time economy. More than 40 officers, supported by policing partners, visited 224 licensed premises and carried out 450 licence checks. While most operatives were correctly licensed, investigators identified six suspected Section 3 offences, including a counterfeit licence, work while licence suspended, and work on someone else’s licence with a suspect fleeing the scene. Venue staff were found operating without an SIA licence, a criminal offence. Several suspected Section 9 breaches were also noted, such as failure to display licences on duty and failure to notify the SIA of address changes. The SIA said it would act against unlicensed activity, contact businesses supplying unlicensed operatives and continue rigorous inspections across the industry. The operation covered regions including North, East, West and South West, Wales, South East, London and Scotland.
