Ofsted issues welfare notice to Bright Horizons group

On 3 July 2026, Ofsted announced it had issued a Welfare Requirements Notice (WRN) to the Bright Horizons group, requiring the organisation to address identified safeguarding and welfare failures by 1 August 2026. The notice follows inspections of 172 of the group’s 247 nurseries, in which breaches were found in 69 settings. Ofsted has published individual nursery reports and an outcome summary for all 247 settings. The WRN focuses on organisational arrangements rather than individual nursery concerns. Chief Inspector Sir Martyn Oliver said the group must comply with the notice and that Ofsted will monitor progress. He urged parents to consult the latest inspection report for their child’s nursery, noting most Bright Horizons nurseries continue to meet requirements.
