EBA Peer Review Confirms Strong Pillar 3 Compliance but Calls for Greater Consistency

On 2 July 2026 the European Banking Authority (EBA) released the results of a targeted peer review of the supervision of Pillar 3 disclosures under the Capital Requirements Regulation and the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive. The review, covering 1 June 2023 to 30 June 2025, found that most competent authorities have fully or largely incorporated Pillar 3 requirements into their supervisory frameworks and that supervisory practices are generally efficient. Four authorities were noted as having achieved very high standards. However, the review identified variations: one authority was rated “partially applied” across all benchmarks, while another was mostly “not applied” due to the lack of formal assessment methods. The EBA recommends improving consistency across jurisdictions.
