The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme (FaSS) reopened on 13 April 2026, administered by the Marine Management Organisation on behalf of DEFRA. The scheme draws on more than £132 million of £304 million allocated to Fishing and Coastal Growth Fund over the next five years. Since reopening, the MMO has approved over £1 million of investment and is encouraging operators and fishermen to apply. A £6 million block is set aside for Small Scale Coastal Fleet, and MMO will assist applicants. The scheme supports fishing, aquaculture, seafood processing, marine conservation and related environmental work, including shore‑facility resilience, vessel energy upgrades and health and safety improvements. Projects over £250,000 are considered by a panel with dates on 4 September and 13 November 2026.
