Italian service sector prices rise 1.2% in Q1 2026

Prices at production of services for business (BtoB) rose 1.2% in the first quarter of 2026, according to Italy’s National Institute of Statistics (Istat). The quarterly increase was 2.7% on a trend basis, up from 1.9% in the fourth quarter of 2025. Growth was spread across almost all economic activities, with the most significant rise seen in transport and storage services (+2.7%). Within that sector, air freight (+4.9%) and sea freight (+3.9%) recorded the largest gains, and the annual rate for transport returned to positive growth (+2.2% versus a decline of –0.8% in Q4 2025). Other sectors, including information and communication (+0.4% quarterly) and professional, scientific and technical services (+0.3% quarterly), also posted modest increases. For the overall market (BtoAll), prices increased 1.2% quarterly and 3.0% trend‑wise. Istat updated the index base to the fourth quarter of 2025 while keeping 2021 as the reference year.
