WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on July 1, 2026 that contributions to the new Trump Accounts will be automatically invested in the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) at launch. The SPYM is a low‑cost exchange‑traded fund that tracks the S&P 500 and meets the statutory fee limits. Treasury also listed five additional low‑cost index ETFs that parents or guardians can elect later: iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI), State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 1500 Composite Stock Market ETF (SPTM), and iShares Core S&P total U.S. Stock Market ETF (ITOT). Until election tools are available, all funds remain in the default SPYM. Treasury will announce the launch of election options and provide instructions for account changes.
