British High Commissioner to Brunei Appointed

Ms Mel Barlow has been appointed British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam. She will take up her appointment during September 2026. Barlow’s career includes roles such as British Ambassador to Laos (2023–present), Deputy Ambassador and Consul General in Kathmandu (2022–2023), and Deputy Head of the Consular Strategy and Network Department at the FCDO (2019–2022). She previously served as Trade Policy and Economic Diplomacy Counsellor in Seoul (2015–2018) and led the India and Nepal team in the South Asia Department at the FCO (2013–2015). Barlow joined the Foreign Office in 2002 after working in private sector roles.
