Denmark’s Sport Participation Shows Consistent Engagement Across Age and Gender

Sport activities continue to be popular among individuals in Denmark, with consistent levels of engagement observed across various age groups and genders, according to the latest available data. The statistics from 2021 to 2023 shed light on the percentage of individuals who have exercised, watched or listened to a sports event, and attended sports events as spectators within the past three months.

The data reveals that an average of 85% of individuals in Denmark have participated in exercise activities in the past three months, demonstrating a consistent level of engagement. Men and women have shown similar levels of participation, with approximately 83% of men and 87% of women reporting exercise activities. Among different age groups, individuals aged 16-24 years exhibit the highest participation rate, with 91% engaging in sports activities, while those aged 75 years and over show a slightly lower participation rate of 82%.

When it comes to watching or listening to sports events, around 77% of individuals in Denmark have engaged in this activity within the past three months. Men show a slightly higher involvement, with 80% reporting watching or listening to sports events, compared to 74% of women. The age group of 55-64 years displays the highest percentage of engagement, with 83% participating in this activity, while individuals aged 16-24 years show a lower rate of 73%.

Attending sports events as spectators is less prevalent, with approximately 18% of individuals in Denmark reporting attendance within the past three months. Men tend to attend sports events more than women, with 22% of men and 13% of women participating in this activity. Among different age groups, individuals aged 16-24 years demonstrate the highest percentage of attendance, with 30% engaging as spectators, while those aged 75 years and over display the lowest rate of 5%.

These findings highlight the consistent engagement of individuals in sport activities in Denmark, reflecting a culture of active participation and interest in sports events.
