Norwegian Government’s Positions on the Critical Raw Materials Act and Net Zero Industry Act

On March 16, the European Commission presented proposals for two new regulations concerning critical raw materials and green industrial production. Here are the Norwegian government’s positions on these acts.

The Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) aim to enhance the security of supply and resilience of the EU’s energy system by strengthening the industrial ecosystem. Increased self-sufficiency is considered necessary due to heightened geopolitical tensions.

The government has developed Norwegian positions on the CRMA and NZIA, based on input from Norwegian businesses and interest organizations. Norway’s final assessments of the two regulations, including the question of possible incorporation into the EEA agreement, will be provided once the regulations are officially adopted by the EU.
