Attempted Fraud Using Police Phone Number Reported in Norway (Spoofing)

The Police Unit for Criminal Record Checks and Police Certificates has received reports of attempted fraud where residents have been called from the unit’s phone number, 40 40 15 50. In one instance, the caller impersonated someone from Økokrim (the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime), while in another case, they claimed to be calling from Bank Norwegian.

  • Be cautious of those who use fear, curiosity, uncertainty, love, investments, or money to obtain information from you.
