Norway: Trond Blattmann and Lisbeth Røyneland Honored with the King’s Medal of Merit

Trond Blattmann and Lisbeth Røyneland were awarded the prestigious King’s Medal of Merit for their exceptional leadership and dedication as heads of the Support Group after the tragic events of July 22nd.

The award was presented by Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt on behalf of the Norwegian government. Both recipients played pivotal roles in supporting the bereaved families and survivors affected by the terror attack that shook the nation in 2011.

Trond Blattmann assumed leadership of the Support Group just a month after the loss of his son, Torjus, and led the organization until 2015. Meanwhile, Lisbeth Røyneland joined the group’s board in 2012 and has been at the helm for the past eight years.

The Support Group, founded to provide solace and assistance to the victims’ families and survivors, has been instrumental in helping them cope with their grief and trauma. Trond and Lisbeth’s empathetic leadership and tireless efforts have been commended by many for creating a supportive and nurturing environment for those affected.

Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt praised the recipients for their unwavering commitment to the group’s cause, even as they navigated their personal grief.
