Today marks the sixth China Physician’s Day, themed “Shouldering the Health Mission, Crafting New Achievements for the Era.” Liu Guozhong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, visited Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and Donghuashi Community Health Service Center in Dongcheng District, Beijing, to extend his regards and gratitude to frontline medical workers on this special occasion.
During his visit, Liu Guozhong engaged in deep conversations with frontline medical workers, gaining insights into medical services, clinical specialization, traditional Chinese medicine services, and family doctor appointment services. He emphasized that China Physician’s Day is a special honor and care bestowed upon medical workers by the Party and the people. He urged everyone to thoroughly study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on health work, uphold the principles of putting the people and their lives first, prioritize people’s health, inherit and promote the spirit of the great fight against the pandemic, and always keep in mind the initial mission of doctors. This, he believes, will better safeguard the safety and health of the people.
Liu Guozhong highlighted that the vast community of medical workers is the main force in advancing the construction of a Healthy China. Over the years, medical workers have demonstrated compassion and skill, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to serving the people’s health. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, they fearlessly faced challenges and contributed significantly to the decisive victory in pandemic prevention and control. Liu emphasized the importance of adhering to professional ethics, striving for excellence, continuously enhancing medical service capabilities and standards, and providing the masses with higher quality and more efficient healthcare services.
He called on all regions and departments to care for and respect medical workers, publicize exemplary cases and deeds, improve compensation and treatment systems, and promote a favorable social atmosphere that respects and values medical professionals. Liu Guozhong stressed the need to work together to promote the sustained and healthy development of the health industry.
