Denmark’s industrial production saw mixed results in the first quarter of 2023, according to new data released by the country’s statistics agency. The Industrial Production Index (2015=100) by seasonal adjustment, which measures the production of various industries, showed that some sectors experienced growth while others saw a decline.

The data shows that BC Mining and quarrying and manufacturing experienced a decline in production from 153.1 in December 2022 to 143.6 in March 2023. The decline was mainly driven by the mining and quarrying sector, which saw a decrease in production from 46.7 in December 2022 to 46.9 in March 2023.

On the other hand, C30 Manufacturing, which excludes the manufacture of ships and other transport equipment, saw an increase in production from 167.1 in December 2022 to 156.4 in March 2023. However, other manufacturing sectors saw mixed results with C31 Manufacturing, excluding pharmaceuticals, experiencing a decline in production from 121.8 in December 2022 to 117.5 in March 2023.

The food industry also saw mixed results, with Manufacture of dairy products experiencing a decline in production from 150.2 in December 2022 to 145.5 in March 2023, while other sub-sectors such as Production of meat and meat products and Processing and preserving of fish experienced growth.

The data also showed that the energy sector saw a decline in production from 66.8 in December 2022 to 61.9 in March 2023, while Non-durable consumer goods, excluding pharmaceuticals, experienced a slight increase in production.

Overall, the data suggests that the industrial production sector in Denmark experienced mixed results in the first quarter of 2023. While some sectors experienced growth, others saw a decline in production, indicating that the sector continues to be affected by various internal and external factors.
