Vital Statistics Report Reveals Copenhagen’s Population Sees Modest Increase in Q1 2023

Provisional data on vital statistics by region, sex, type of movement, and time has been released for Copenhagen, Denmark. The data covers the period from the second quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023.

The data shows that the population of Copenhagen continues to grow, with both men and women experiencing natural increases in their populations. However, there were more internal migrations out of Copenhagen than into it, resulting in a net migration loss for both men and women.

For men, the internal net migration loss was -509 in the first quarter of 2023, while for women, it was -437. Despite this, both genders saw an increase in their populations due to natural increases and international migration.

In terms of international migration, both men and women saw an increase in the number of immigrants, with the majority immigrating in the present quarter. Similarly, the number of emigrants also increased, with the majority emigrating in the present quarter as well.

It is important to note that there were corrections made to the data, with some figures being adjusted in previous quarters. For example, on February 21, 2018, the number of live births in the fourth quarter of 2017 was revised, with an additional 23 babies being added to the total.

Furthermore, all data was revised on May 11, 2016, due to previously published data. These corrections may impact the overall interpretation of the data.

Overall, the data suggests that Copenhagen’s population continues to grow despite net migration losses. The increase in international migration and natural population growth may be contributing factors to this growth.
