Bundesregierung Aktuell: Newsletter from August 4, 2023

The question of whether “Made in Germany” will continue to be a success model in the future is currently on the minds of many in Germany. The Federal Government has already taken numerous concrete measures to ensure that this success endures. The German industry has demonstrated its capability to develop climate protection solutions with global applicability while simultaneously reducing its own greenhouse gas emissions. Chancellor Scholz is convinced: The large-scale industrial transformation, the comprehensive modernization of German industry, will be successful. “I believe that we might even experience a significant additional growth boost,” emphasized Scholz during his summer press conference.

On August 1st, the new training year commenced. For many young people, this marks the beginning of a new phase in life, as today’s apprentices are the creators of tomorrow. To inspire more young individuals to pursue apprenticeships, the Federal Government has increased the minimum remuneration. Despite the fact that out of a total of 508,900 apprenticeship positions, 227,700 still remain vacant, the labor market figures reveal that the German job market remains resilient, despite international challenges and seasonal fluctuations during the summer months.

The Federal Government remains committed to shaping the country’s future in areas such as the economy, environmental protection, and education. We will continue to keep you updated on significant developments.
